Fuzhou, on the southeast verge of Eurasia and facing the Pacific Ocean on the east, is of typical humid subtropical monsoon climate, with long summer and short winter. Except for the mountain areas with high elevations, most of the region has more than 300 days free of frost. Fuzhou is evergreen due to the mild temperatures and adequate rainfall.

Spring in Fuzhou is a season that has most of the overcast or rainy days in a year and has volatile temperatures. There are spring rain period (March-Aril) and plum rain period (May-June). In the spring rain period, the temperature is highly instable, even severe convective weather like cold spell or hail would occur in some particular years. Summer is prevailed by hot and sunny weather, and it is a season haunted by air mass thunderstorms, tropical storms and typhoons. Autumn is pleasing with clear skies and adequate sunshine. In winter, precipitation is comparatively low, and it is not severely cold though the temperature is relatively low.
