Hohhot is a temperate inland city located in central Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north of North China, with a typical temperate continental climate. Its major characteristics are: long and cold winters with little snow; short and hot summers with concentrated precipitation; dry and windy springs; sunny, cool but short autumns. Temperatures vary sharply between day and night and from year to year, often with radical changes. Hohhot has a dry weather, a short frost-free period, little but concentrated precipitation. Spring sees quick rise in temperature, more precipitation than in winter, more windy days sometimes accompanied by sandstorms and radical temperature changes. Summer has more precipitation than other seasons: with 50 percent of the yearly total in July and August. July is the warmest month but the mean temperature is merely around 22 C. Autumn stays short, feels rather cool due to a quick fall in temperature, and has more sunshine and precipitation than spring. Winter is the longest season in Hohhot, mostly cold and dry.
